OVERVIEW:

VMRD's 22-day assay for the detection of infectious Sencavirus is based on growth in porcine cells followed by an IFA detection of infective Senecavirus A using a mono-specific antibody. This assay can reliably detect as little as 1 TCID/50 (1 virion particle) in test articles.

FULL DESCRIPTION:

Senecavirus A (SVA), also known as Seneca Valley Virus is a growing concern among veterinary biological product manufacturers who use ingredients of animal origin derived from swine in their production processes. Because of this concern, it is recommended to use materials free of live Senecavirus. To assure ingredients are free of live Senecavirus, it is recommended to test biological products, Master Seeds and Master Cell Stocks for the presence of Senecavirus by appropriate testing and incorporate results as part of the licensee’s records.
VMRD recognizes this need and now offers a 3-week assay for the detection of live Senecavirus A in raw materials to meet the purity and quality standards of veterinary biological product manufacturers and to test Master Seeds and Master Cell Stocks.
